Reducing stress for healthcare workers
Elderly care in Sweden and Europe is facing tough challenges. We are getting older as a population, while healthcare workers are experiencing stress and high levels of sick leave. The Swedish company Medarca has developed smart medicine cabinets that streamline administration, relieve staff, reduce waste and increase safety for care recipients.
Medarca's story begins when its founders, who were working on cash management challenges in Europe at the time, saw similar challenges in the management of medicines in elderly care. Too much of it is handled manually, with little traceability and a high risk of error. As a result, elderly care has high medication wastage, while medication errors are a leading cause of patient harm. For care workers, stress is high and medication management is one of the most time-consuming routine tasks.
